About the Role
- Location: Remote - Portugal or UK.
- Contract: Permanent.
- Hours: 37.5 hours (Core hours 10:00 am-2:00 pm Monday-Friday).
- Line Manager: Head of Design.
- The Digital Products team creates engaging and innovative educational experiences across web, iOS, and Android, designing and developing interactive learning products and games.
- This role combines hands-on design expertise with leadership skills to guide a small team of designers while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional products.
- You will play a key role in shaping the direction and quality of educational apps and interactive products across platforms, ensuring they are consistent, accessible, and rooted in real user needs.

What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee and align team efforts by providing guidance to ensure work aligns with product objectives and meets the organisation’s high standards.
- Partner with the Principal designer to implement and evolve the Design System across digital products on mobile and web, including accessibility to an AA standard.
- Act as a mentor to the team, supporting professional growth through constructive feedback, skill development, and coaching.
- Work in partnership with product and engineering teams on roadmap planning to ensure the team is well-planned, unblocking work and guiding planned work efficiently.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for digital learning products across web and mobile platforms, considering clear navigation, sensible interaction flows, and balanced information architecture, while promoting and supporting the growth of the Design System.
- Collaborate with the UXR and customer insights teams to conduct user research to understand the needs, pain points, and behaviours of educators and students, translating research findings into actionable design insights and product requirements.
- Coordinate and lead appropriate forums for the purpose of ideation and exploring design solutions with a cross-functional team, including stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, effectively communicating designs and managing and incorporating feedback from stakeholders at various levels.
- Support the end-to-end product development process from product conception and ideation through to implementation, pre-launch testing, and final customer feedback.
